Dr Anthony Fauci does not believe health officials will cancel the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The White House Infectious Disease expert said he expects the CDC to approve to resume the inoculation program at a meeting on Friday.
“It’s a very serious complication although it is extremely rare,” he said.
The Johnson & Johnson rollout was paused last week after six cases were reported where vaccine recipients developed blood clots.
While Dr Fauci admits some restrictions may accompany the resumption he said he hopes the meeting will allow the rollout to get “back on track”.
