‘If provoked we will respond’: China warns against sanctions over Uyghur persecution

China’s ambassador to Australia, Cheng Jingy, has issued a warning for nations considering imposing sanctions on China in response to the persecution of Uyghur Muslims.

In a recent propaganda presentation at the Chinese Embassy in Canberra, officials downplayed diplomatic concerns about the mass incarceration of Muslim populations.

Despite photographic and eyewitness evidence, the Chinese government continues to claim persecution of Uyghurs is a lie. Mr. Cheng Jingye issued a warning against imposing sanctions on China in the name of standing up for human rights, saying,””we will not provoke but if we are provoked … we will respond in kin””.
