Indonesian submarine found broken in three pieces on ocean floor
A missing Indonesian submarine has been found cracked apart on the seafloor in waters off the coast of Bali. The vessel was broken into three pieces at a depth of 850 meters – well beyond its survivable limits. Rescue crews recovered debris, including a life vest, grease bottle, parts of a torpedo straightener, and prayer rugs.
The military has confirmed all 53 personnel onboard have died.
The submarine disappeared during exercises on Wednesday, sparking a frantic operation to locate it.
