It’s a ‘momentous day’ amid commencement of trans-Tasman travel bubble

Tourism Industry Aotearoa CEO Chris Roberts says today is a “momentous day” for the tourism industries in both New Zealand and Australia, amid the official commencement of the trans-Tasman travel bubble.

“We’ve got 32 flights across the Tasman today,” Mr Roberts told Sky News.

“We only had 36 flights all of last week”.

The arrangement allows Australians and New Zealanders to travel between the nations without needing to quarantine on arrival.

Mr Roberts said the number of flights across the Tasman are set to “build quite significantly to a hundred flights a day, at least, very, very soon”.
