Minneapolis head of homicide says force used against Floyd was ‘totally unnecessary’

The Minneapolis head of homicide has revealed he has never been trained to kneel on the neck of someone who has been handcuffed in his testimony at the murder trial of Derek Chauvin.

Lieutenant Richard Zimmerman told the court once a person is handcuffed, their threat level goes away and says he saw no reason why the officers felt they were in danger.

Mr. Zimmerman said the force used against someone who was handcuffed and in the prone position could be considered “deadly force” because “if your knee is on a person’s neck, that can kill them”.
