Nationals reinstate Juan Soto, Will Harris from injured list

The Washington Nationals are getting some reinforcements — in a big way.

The Nationals activated right fielder Juan Soto and reliever Will Harris off the injured list Tuesday before Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves.  Soto was not in the lineup Tuesday, but he returns to the active roster after missing 11 games with a left shoulder strain. The Nationals will more than welcome back his bat as the 22-year-old hits .300 with two home runs and eight RBI.

Harris, meanwhile, has yet to play this season. He missed 24 games with right-hand inflammation and most of the spring training. The Nationals were initially concerned that the 36-year-old was dealing with a blood clot, though the team and Harris received good news upon further diagnosis.

Harris was solid in relief last season. He posted a 3.06 ERA in 20 games.

As part of a corresponding move, the Nationals designated infielder Hernan Perez for assignment and optioned pitcher Kyle McGowin.

Entering Tuesday’s contest, the Nationals (12-12) lead the National League East.
