UK health secretary defends himself against allegations of lying

British Health Secretary Matt Hancock has denied claims made by the prime minister’s former chief advisor.

The scathing attack by Dominic Cummings claimed Mr Hancock lied to colleagues about hospital patients being tested for COVID before being sent back to care homes.

Mr Hancock said the allegations of being underqualified and unfit for office were “unsubstantiated” and he had been truthful when speaking to people.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson declined to offer Mr Hancock public support and ignored questions about his confidence in his health secretary.
