‘Universal brotherhood’ is the ‘need of the hour’ during India’s COVID crisis

Federation of Indian Associations of Victoria President Sury Soni says “universal brotherhood” is the “the need of the hour” during India’s COVID crisis with 8,000 to 9,000 Australians stranded due to the flight pause.

“The community in Australia is very desperate to send help to India as much as possible,” he said.

“We are working on different … possibilities, and one of the possibilities is we are reaching out to the Australian government to [see] if we can top up the aid the Australian government is sending to India.

Mr. Soni told Sky News there was “panic” in the community over the travel restrictions. Still, it was understood, “the number of cases has risen beyond the capabilities of the medical system in place.”

“So definitely we understand and appreciate this momentary pause by the Australian government, and we hope the flights will resume in 15 days”.
